Pam Ingalls, Board President - WCAL

Pam Ingalls, Board President

Pam spent more than 30 years in banking, her most recent position as Vice President in charge of loan operations for 17 years at Sonoma National Bank. Since leaving Sonoma National in 2008, she has followed her passion for dogs and animals dedicating her time at Bergin University of Canine Studies, Sonoma Humane Society, Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue and Wine Country Animal Lovers of Calistoga. Pam also serves on the board of directors for Boys and Girls Club of St. Helena and Calistoga. She currently lives in Calistoga with her husband Paul, Golden Retriever Olive, rescue Pit Bull mix Mazey, and rescue MacNab, Junior.

 
Alissa McNair, Board Vice President - WCAL

Alissa McNair, Board Vice President

Alissa was born and raised in Calistoga. Interested in learning more about animals, she shadowed Dr. Butler and this led to her first job – working at the Calistoga Pet Clinic for Dr. Butler and then Dr. Franquelin once he purchased the practice. After graduating with a B.Arch from the University of Oregon she backpacked through South and Central America before returning to Calistoga. She is now a practicing Architect at Patrick Mervin + Associates where she has been employed for the past 10 years. Alissa and her husband, Erin, share their home with rescue dogs Buddy, Nina & Fozzie and cats Sam, Tut & Lefty.

Bob Beck, Board Treasurer

Bob was born in California and grew up in a small town in South Dakota. He graduated from Drake University and then Harvard University with an MBA.  After graduation, Bob began his corporate career in Los Angeles. Then came a new direction in real estate in Sausalito and a several year stint sailing in the Caribbean .  He met his wife Valerie in Sausalito and they moved to Calistoga to open a real estate office and have lived here happily for over 30 years

 
Donna WCAL Board Secretary

Donna Leverenz, Board Secretary

The majority of Donna’s career was spent in the realm of Marketing. Her positions included Director of Advertising and Public Relations for Gucci, Fendi, and Mark Cross Accessories in the United States and Canada; Director of Marketing for Rod McClellan, one of the world’s largest orchid growers; and Marketing Manager, Editor-in-Chief, and Partner in Foghorn Press, publisher of outdoor recreation guidebooks, including the national Dog Lover’s Companion series.

Her move to Napa Valley in 1997 led to a shift to a career in food and wine, two of Donna’s passions. She was the Wine Buyer and Wine Education Director for Meadowood Napa Valley and is currently the Manager of Sherwin Family Vineyards. She is married to John McLaughlin and shares her love with two rescued Border Collies and five rescued kitties. Life is good.

Anne Andersen

Anne grew up in Calistoga, and has always had a love of the outdoors and a passion for animals. She was very active in Girl Scouts and volunteered at the Upper Valley Animal Clinic with Dr. Gouveia. After graduating from Calistoga High School attended UC Davis, and then worked as an elementary school teacher for 32 years.

Now she's back in her hometown living in Calistoga with her husband, Steve, four cats, and a German Shepherd/McNab mix named Shadow. When she's not helping out with WCAL activities, Anne enjoys hiking, gardening, biking and camping.

 
Scott Atkinson, WCAL Board Member

Scott Atkinson

Scott is a lifelong resident of Calistoga and past civic involvement include participating in the original bicycle pedestrian plans developed for the City, 10 years on the Calistoga Planning Commission and six years as a reserve police officer for the City of Calistoga. Scott & his wife, Vicki, are also the creators of the over-the-top Halloween haunted house at their residence every year. Roush, an eleven year old Jack Russell Terrier completes their household. Scott is the owner of Napa Valley Materials, a specialty material supplier to the construction industry. In 2008, Scott became involved in the quest to find a location to develop an off-leash dog park in Calistoga. His hard work was paid off on April 27, 2012 at the grand opening of the Franquelin Dog Park.

 
Jeff Hoelsken, WCAL Board of Directors

Jeff Hoelsken

Jeff was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been active in the non-profit community for many years.  He received his BA from U.C. Berkeley, and his law degree from U.C. Hastings College of the Law.  His legal career focused primarily on environmental law, renewable energy, non-profit law and business matters. Jeff left his legal practice in 2015 to focus on animal welfare issues full time.  He is currently the Executive Director of Sunrise Horse Rescue, a nonprofit horse rescue and no-kill sanctuary in Calistoga, California.    

 
Madelyn Krkljus, WCAL Board Member

Madelyn Krkljus

Madelyn grew up in Angwin and St. Helena where she developed a strong appreciation for the outdoors and a passion for animal welfare. In 2009, a particularly challenging experience with a foster dog led her to pursue a formal education in the science of animal learning & applied behavior. Madelyn graduated with Honors from The Academy for Dog Trainers, earning her Certificate in Training & Behavior Counseling. 

In addition to her studies, Madelyn has worked extensively with both shelter dogs and family dogs throughout California and Northern New Mexico. She is the owner of Tails In The Valley Dog Training in Napa Valley.

 
Maggie WCAL Board Member

Maggie Orozco

A Calistoga native, Maggie has always had a passion for animals. It started with going to the library and reading about horses, cats and dogs. That was followed by walking dogs and feeding cats in her neighborhood before finally finding her calling at Calistoga Pet Clinic. For the last 9 years she has worked at Calistoga Pet Clinic with Dr. Franquelin. There she has learned to care for and help animals in need. Now she fosters and helps rehabilitate animals so they can find their forever homes. She lives happily in Calistoga with her dogs, Lobo, a Siberian Husky and her 2 rescues from Calistoga Pet Clinic, Raider, a Pit Bull mix and Palomo, a Chihuahua.

Steve Franquelin, DVM
WCAL Medical Advisor

Dr. Franquelin was born and raised in the Napa Valley and received his B.S. in science and D.V.M. (Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine) from UC Davis in 1992. He lives in Calistoga and has three children, Andy, Jenna and Case. His love and passion for Veterinary medicine, his clients, community and most specifically the animals shows in all he does. Fly-fishing, hiking, scouting, reading, skiing and cooking are a few of his passions. Dr. Franquelin is devoted to providing the best and up-to-date Veterinary care for his patients. His compassion and empathy allow him special aptitude in Hospice and end of life care.
